Consultant Spotlight

Suzanne’s journey from accountant to TechnologyOne consultant showcases her adaptability and dedication to client success.
Suzanne is not just any TechnologyOne enterprise systems consultant; she is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years of diverse experience in the accounting field.
“The foundation I built in New Zealand has been instrumental in shaping my career,” Suzanne shares. “It’s where I learned the value of precision, dedication, and the importance of continuous learning.”
Five years ago, Suzanne made a pivotal decision to shift from a traditional accounting role to contracting. This move brought a new dimension to her career, allowing her to work with a variety of clients and industries. “I love the variety that contracting brings,” she says.
“Every client is unique, and each project offers a new challenge. It keeps the work interesting and fulfilling.”
The transition from contracting to consulting suited Suzanne perfectly due to the inherent similarities between the two roles. Both contracting and consulting require a high degree of expertise, adaptability, and problem-solving skills, allowing her to leverage her existing strengths and to provide more strategic guidance to her clients.
Suzanne’s personal life is as rich and varied as her professional one. She is a proud mother of two children, aged 12 and 16, and cares for a cat, seven chickens, four fish, and two dogs. When she’s not working, Suzanne enjoys spending quality time with her family and taking long walks with her two Border Collies. “Family time and my pets are my way of unwinding and staying grounded,” she explains.
As the enterprise systems consulting industry evolves, Suzanne is keenly aware of the rapid changes on the horizon, particularly in technology. “The next five to ten years will bring significant changes,” she predicts.
“Technology is always evolving, and as consultants, we need to stay ahead of the curve. It’s what makes this field so exciting—there’s always something new to learn.”
To prepare for these changes, Suzanne is committed to continuous learning and adaptation. “I’m always looking for new courses and training opportunities to stay updated,” she says. “It’s crucial to be proactive and ready for what’s next.”
Looking ahead, Suzanne sees automation and artificial intelligence (AI) as the most exciting developments in the enterprise systems consulting industry. “Automation and AI are set to revolutionise the finance industry, particularly accounting,” she explains.
“It will be interesting to see how AI is embraced and integrated into existing systems. As consultants, we’ll play a key role in guiding clients through these changes and ensuring they leverage new technologies effectively.”
When asked who she would invite to a dream dinner party, Suzanne’s choices reflect her admiration for strong, inspiring figures. “I’d love to have Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Sir Peter Blake at my dinner table. Their stories, wisdom, and experiences would make for an unforgettable evening.”
Suzanne’s journey from a traditional accountant to a dynamic TechnologyOne consultant is a testament to her adaptability, passion for learning, and dedication to client success. As the industry continues to evolve, Suzanne is well-prepared to navigate the changes and help her clients thrive in an increasingly automated and AI-driven world.
